At Last It’s Fall

A Teaching K-8 special extra!
A celebrated children's poet pens an ode to autumn

fall leaves, pumpkins and apples

We slip our wooly sweaters on
and chase the leaves across the lawn.
We flap our arms, pretend to fly
like wild geese in dappled sky.
We share an apple – golden, sweet.
Then dance a scarecrow down the street.
We toss a football, run and catch.
We zig-zag through a pumpkin patch.
We leap in weeds grown dry and tall –
two friends out celebrating fall.
