2007 Summer Read-Along Program

The free Summer Read-Along book program sweepstakes is for students ages 7-14 and is sponsored by Schwab Learning and Don Johnston Incorporated to help keep students engaged in reading and learning this summer. Each week from May 29th to June 26th students can download two chapters of the book "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." Complete all ten chapters from the five-week online reading from May 29 - June 30th and get a free student completion certificate. Also, ten participants will receive a set of Start-to-Finish books and corresponding CDs.

ING Direct is sponsoring a writing contest. Writers of all ages can create a fictional picture book story that teaches a basic financial lesson for children ages 4-7. The story should be less than 1,400 words and focus on money, savings, budgeting or wise spending. Stories can only be submitted online and all stories must be posted by June 30, 2007.

One grand prize winner in each category (children, teen, adult) will win $1,000 and their winning story will be illustrated and published.
