News and Grants for Teaching Professionals
In Brief
Teaching Fellowship
As an alternate route to teaching, the New York City Teaching Fellows program focuses on recruiting and training talented individuals who don't have any previous teaching experience or educational coursework. There are over 6,000 Fellows teaching in classrooms across New York City. Their students come primarily from under-resourced communities and their schools are those in greatest need of talented, energetic teachers.
This year the Fellowship is committed to recruit teachers for the high needs subject areas of math, science, special education and bilingual education.
Key components of the program include full teacher benefits and salary and a subsidized Master's degree in education. For more information, go to www.nycteachingfellows.org or call 877-NY-Fellow.
