Our readers speak out
A thankful cover subject
I cannot express how pleased I am with the cover story ("From Start to Finish," November/December 2004) about my school! As always, I really enjoyed reading my issue of Teaching K-8. It always makes me feel good about what I'm doing. Thank you for your support of educators everywhere!

Breaking gender stereotypes
Thank you for the awesome article on Kim Crosby ("From Start to Finish," November/December 2004). I, too, am a female teacher who drag races and it has proven to be a great way to teach many science topics including Newton's Laws of Motion, acceleration, speed, etc. My students are always amazed when I tell them that I drag race a 1966 Chevelle. I think it's great that you took the time to honor a teacher who is breaking gender stereotypes as well as teaching her students that dreams can come true. Keep up the great work!

Another Green Pages fan
I love your Green Pages! I am a teacher of a Mommy and Me class for two-year-olds and I am also a caregiver. I recently took your Bird Feeder idea ("Your Green Pages," August/September 2004) to another level. I didn't want to use toothpicks with such young children, so I cut out the core of the apple and then had the kids pull it out. Next, we filled the middle of the apple with birdseed. The kids loved it and so did the parents.
Keep those great ideas coming. It's really hard to find good ideas for real little ones!

Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your timeliness on responding to my e-mail and the fact that you would even consider mailing me a complimentary issue of Teaching K-8 makes me want to subscribe already. What a blessing! I will be reading my issue from cover to cover. Since I'm a first year teacher, I'm sure I'll find a wealth of information between the pages.
