WordArt Lesson Plan – A is for Aardvark
WordArt Activities:
- Create your own "moving WordArt". Create your WordArt and format the WordArt using "Tight" text-wrapping, and the WordArt will move anywhere on the page. It can be placed beside the correct definition or moved on top of a diagram placed as a watermark to label. I have even used WordArt for students to diagram a science process such as the Water Cycle or Life Cycle of a Frog, or to label a map.
- Another way to use WordArt is to create an interactive research page. For younger students, I type in the content and ask them to research and move the WordArt from a Word Bank at the bottom of the page to the correct line on their word processing paper. For older students, I give them the Word Bank and they use the Internet to research the topic and type in their answers and then create the WordArt for their final report. The reproducible on Martin Luther King, Jr. is a guide for their research. Download the MS Word file – Martin Luther King, Jr. – to have your own "moving" WordArt.
- WordArt Name Game – Students will love creating Name poems – whether it's their own name or the name of a famous person like Martin Luther King, Jr. if you show them how to put their portrait into the name.
