Folding Matters
Social Studies Take some time to teach the class how to fold the flag of the United States properly and respectfully. The correct method is illustrated well at www.usflag.org Practice first with rectangular pieces of paper. Mark which end has the stars on it. After practicing with the paper, have students partner and fold a real flag.

Fantastic Flags
Social Studies In honor of Flag Day, June 14, review the history of our nation's flag and all that it stands for, as well as introducing the history and meaning of your state's flag. Then invite students to design a personal flag with colors and symbols that represent themselves.
