Today's Classroom Activities :

Learning to Eat Right

Eating Right
Health/Nutrition March is National Nutrition Month, sponsored by the American Dietetic Association. Take your class to www.eatright.org and see what they can learn about getting healthy and eating healthfully. Have them make a poster display for other students to view in the hallways and/or in the cafeteria during this month.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner with Gregory
Create a nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner and feed Gregory the goat.

Fishing for Foods Game
Students "go fishing" and practice identifying and categorizing foods into the Five Food Groups.

Food Pyramid Book and Game
Students will learn about the Food Pyramid and which foods keep our bodies healthy.

Nutrition lesson plans—fun hands on activities
Students learn about the four food groups by cutting pictures of food out of newspapers to make projects.

Salad Party
This is a great activity to help students realize how important plants are in our diets and in our world. It improves classifying skills, increases knowledge of plant parts, provides a cooperative learning experience, and takes the place of an "all sugar treats" party. It also involves home and parents in our studies.

Nutrition Unit
This lesson will help students learn the importance of nutrition and keeping healthy.
