Today's Classroom Activities :
Observing Nature

Ask your students to pick an object they can observe, such as a leaf, a bug, a bird or a plant. They should first note information about the day – weather, time, temperature, etc. Then have students record any activity they see during that time. Have each student share with the rest of the class what he or she observed.
Make connections all across your curriculum by showing your students how to keep an observation journal with Sit Back and Observe by Mark Baldwin.
Get Your Bearings is an outdoor activity, courtesy of a respected natural history education organization that your students can use to practice using a map and a compass to find points in a landscape.
