Edison and the Light Bulb
Students will learn how inventions are created to solve problems or improve the way things are done. The improvement of the incandescent light bulb by Thomas Edison is used as an example.

Inventor's Workshop
Teach your students about the six simple machines that are the basis for all mechanical devices, the inclined plane, the lever and fulcrum, the wedge, the screw, and the wheel and axle, and the pulley. The will also learn about Leonardo da Vinci one of the greatest inventors of all time, and how each of his designs implemented one or more of the six simple machines.
