Today's Classroom Activities :

Sorting

Rock and Sort
Math Collect 10 rocks. Use a permanent marker to number them from 1 to 10. Sort the rocks in different ways, largest to smallest, odd numbers and even, smooth and rough, etc.

Sorting Through Spiders
In this activity, children will utilize their own drawings of spiders to analyze and sort the attributes that each child drew.

Venn Diagram and Shape Sorting Lesson Plan
Students will learn how to use Venn diagrams to represent classifications of shapes and to use counting arguments to find the number of objects in a given set.

Book Sorting: Using Observation and Comprehension to Categorize Books
Students choose books from the classroom library, then use their observation skills to sort them into categories while discussing the content and illustrations. The teacher's role is to question, observe, and guide students toward increasingly creative sorting methods. This break from "pencil-and-paper" work is a rich experience for both student and teacher.
