Spelling Words Activities

Slippery Spelling
Spelling/Reading Place a brightly-colored piece of construction paper on a table. Give students a bold marker with which they can write the spelling or vocabulary word that gives them the most trouble. Then provide a can of sprayable whipped cream for students to use to trace the word.

Rhyming Your Spelling Words
This lesson can be used with any spelling words. The students can use rhyming to remember their spelling words. They connect rules and spellings of words they already know to their new words.

Apple Words
Students will be able to think of words and spell them correctly based on rules of the game.

Pipe Cleaner Spelling, Spelling
Students will manipulate pipe cleaners to spell their names and spelling words.

Word Worms: Spelling or Vocab Game
In this game students will challenge themselves and their classmates to come up with new words based on vocabulary or spelling words! This brainstorming session results in colorful art.
