Today's Classroom Activities :
The Colors of the Rainbow Classroom Activities

Color Wash Rainbows
Art Have students spray water onto white sheets of paper. Press colored crepe paper streamers onto the wet paper in an arc shape. Place newspaper over the streamers and press the newspaper down. Lift the newspaper, peel off the colored streamers to see the spring rainbow pictures now on the white paper. Use these rainbows to write nonfiction how-to articles for others to follow.
Remember the rainbow. When light passes through water droplets, it breaks into seven colors to form a rainbow. The colors appear in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Use this mnemonic to remember: ROY G. BIV.
Rainbows and Leprechauns
Art/Reading Read leprechaun stories and teach your students the order of colors in the rainbow. Provide colorful supplies such as buttons, ribbons, chenille sticks, candies, etc. Pass out large pieces of blue or white drawing paper on which each child may make a textured rainbow with a pot of treasure.
