The World Almanac: A Tool for Building Study Skills
The World Almanac for Kids is an ideal tool for developing your students' study skills. And a scavenger hunt for information is a fun way to use this useful tool!
"Where in the World? An Primary Source/Almanac Lesson
Students working in groups of four will identify and look for information about landmarks from around the world using photographs and subtitles as identifying triggers. They will then use an Almanac to find additional information about the structure. Each group will develop a PowerPoint presentation using the information gained from the two sources.
Exploring the Almanac
This lesson plan provides instructions and worksheets for a game that allows students to explore the almanac as a reference tool.
Passport to the World
This lesson has students using the Equator, Prime Meridian, and International Date Line as a basis to create a globe complete with the location of all continents. Students will earn passport stamps as they explore the world. Through cooperative grouping, they will identify major countries within each continent and create a class almanac.
